Welcome to the latest round-up blog for Rickmansworth Bowls Club! We have had an eventful few weeks with friendly fixtures, men's vets team matches, exciting competition results, and some positive developments in our community partnerships. Let's dive into the details.

Club Friendly Fixture Results:

On the 17th, our team faced Ruislip in an away fixture and despite a valiant effort, we unfortunately lost with a score of 56-41. Another away fixture followed on the 21st against Oxhey, where we faced tough competition and lost with a score of 69-45. However, we bounced back on the 24th with a home fixture against Abbots Langley, where we secured a fantastic victory with a score of 83-60. Our latest fixture against Northwood saw another great performance from Rickmansworth where we finished 68-61 winners.

Men's Vets Teams:

  • The Green team had their match on the 16th against Herts Blue (away), but despite their best efforts, they couldn't secure a win and lost with a score of 26-44.

  • On the 23rd, the Green team faced Chesham Blue at home but unfortunately fell short, losing with a score of 22-30.

  • The Yellow team, on the other hand, had a great start with their match against Hemel Hempstead Green on the 16th, where they emerged victorious with a score of 46-23.

  • Continuing their winning streak, the Yellow team played against Berkhamsted Blue on the 23rd and secured another win with a score of 38-30.

Watford & District, County & National Competitions:

  • Congratulations to Nick for his outstanding performance in the Nationals Singles match, winning with a score of 21-12. He was then very unlucky to lose his second round match of the National Singles against a Potten End player, 18 - 22, after being in front for the first 22 ends.

  • Roy Robinson and Nick won their first round of the Watford and District Aussie Pairs against a Herts, 16 - 12.

  • Additionally, Nick and Ian Jacklin formed a formidable pair and triumphed in their National Pairs match winning 20 - 10.

Other News:

  • Our recent recruitment day generated some interest, and we are delighted to welcome back those players who joined us for Thursday evening roll-ups.

  • During the Big Bowls weekend, we had the pleasure of introducing five passers-by to the game, and we eagerly anticipate their participation in our Thursday evening sessions.

  • Excitingly, we have announced our first social partnership with Burford House Care Home, which has contributed funds to the club for new equipment. Stay tuned for updates on their sponsored morning date.

  • We are excited to announce that the club competition fixtures are now live on our website! Members can now easily access the schedule and plan their participation in various club competitions. Be sure to check out the website and mark your calendars for the upcoming matches.
